The History of Golf Clubs

You’re golf fans , you may have different kinds of wholesale golf equipment , you may really love them .but do you know the history of the golf clubs , now I’ ll showing you the history of golf clubs as following :

The first clubs made specifically for golf in the history of golf equipment were probably fashioned by bow makers who were familiar with the whip-like properties of wood.

The very first golf clubs were tree limbs and shepherd's crooks that were fashioned with club-like bottoms. Players also used one club for all their shots.

A variety of clubs had emerged with slight variations. There was the play club used to tee off with, lofted spoons designed to hit the ball off the ground and a baffing spoon or "baffy" to hit a pitch-like shot.

The only irons before the invention of the gutty golf ball were the rut iron or "rutter" used to scoop the ball out of wheel ruts and a comblike track iron used to hit the ball out of stones.

Steel Shafts
In the 1920's golf equipment companies began making steel shafts. These new shafts gave clubs a uniform strength and feel. In 1926 the USGA authorized the use of steel-shafted clubs in competition and the R&A followed suit in 1929.

The Sand Wedge
In 1932 Sarazen wanted a club that would not dig into the sand when he was in the bunker so he soldered a flange onto the bottom of his niblick, inventing the sand wedge.

The Metal Wood
In the 1970's Gary Adams, a golf club innovator who founded TaylorMade, developed and began producing woods made of metal becoming known as "the father of the metal wood."

This bold new idea led club companies to experiment with using new materials, like titanium in the 1990's, and allowed club heads to become bigger and lighter, increasing forgiveness and performance.

Now ,have you get something about the golf clubs ? you may also have some information that I have not , you can add , just share .
